We created Simi Magazine to give young black girls like you a voice and a media space where you can be represented by someone like you.
Simi is a teen Magazine in which you can relate to and see someone that actually looks like you inside.

Hi, I’m Olu, I have vivid memories of glossy magazine pictures plastered on my wall while I was in my teens. Despite the fact that all the models in my magazines then were white, I still love looking at it because of the way it made me feel.
About Simi Magazine
As an author I love inspiring people, especially young girls. I have written and self published lots of journals on self-love, high self- esteem and having confidence for young black girls.
I usually give some of my journals to young teens, but when I asked for feedback about the book I gave them they either said they haven’t read it yet or just gave me an excuse.
And as we all know, teenagers have short attention spans. Do I decided to create a digital magazine that will be fun and at the same time learn.
So that was how Simi Magazines came about.
Our Mission:
Our goal is to create positive representations of black young girls all over the world by creative writing, thought pieces, art and photography to inspire girls to be who they want to be.
With each edition, our hope is that young readers across the globe are able to see themselves on the covers, in the advertisements, and of course, reflected in the editorial. We fill that void in the mainstream magazine marketplace, in which Black girls are virtually invisible.
Simi is a quarterly teen magazine specifically designed for Black girls ages 13 to 19. Simi is dedicated to providing Black girls with a community that focuses on celebrating them and their culture by covering beauty, fashion, relationships, health, careers, arts, entertainment, fiction, and social issues.
Our Style:
Our editorial voice and style is young, creative, conversational, and fun. We want our
readers to feel as though they are talking to their best friend when they pick up an issue.
